One company, two overlapping product lines
On May 1, 2026, PlayMetrics completed its acquisition of SportsEngine — including SportsEngine HQ, Motion, Tourney, Play, and AES. PlayMetrics has committed to service continuity, and no sunset has been announced. It also means one company now maintains two platforms whose features overlap: two registration systems, two tournament products, two club/league management surfaces.
That's a normal post-acquisition state — and it makes a few questions fair game during any evaluation:
- Which of the overlapping products is the long-term platform?
- If you onboard today, could your product line be the one that converges away?
- What do migration and pricing look like at the point of convergence?

Where PlayMetrics is genuinely strong
PlayMetrics has a deserved reputation as a user-friendly operating system for competitive youth clubs — practice planning, club operations, coach tooling — and with the SportsEngine portfolio it now owns the broadest product set in youth sports software. A large competitive club consolidating everything onto one vendor with a dedicated account team should have them on the shortlist.
